On May 1, 2003, President Bush stood underneath a "Mission Accomplished" banner and announced that "Major combat operations have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed."

This is a by-the-numbers look at the situation then, compared to the situation now.

I'd so like to send this to the few pro-Bush conservatives on my email list, but I know they'd ignore it. They seem to be just as lost a cause as the war.

Part of the unshakeable 34% I suppose.
