The end is near
For Bush, that is. The White House has declined to challenge assertions that Bush authorized leaking intelligence information to counter critics of his decision to invade Iraq.
Even Bush spokesman Scott McClellan parried the question. "The president would never authorize disclosure of information that could compromise our nation's security."
Let's parse that statement: "would never" implies "would not, from this point forward" (now that he knows how much trouble it can cause him); "authorize" means "give written permission" (it was verbal); and "compromise" means "worsen" (our nation's security is already as bad as it can get).
Say bye-bye, Bushie boy!

As much as I'd love to see Bush go, I think he'll still be here till the end of his term, unfortunately. Even if the Dems get control this November, many of them aren't keen on impeachment proceedings. Or maybe it's just that they aren't at this moment...We'll just have to wait and see.
Um, I don't wish harm on Mr. Bush or anything, but doesn't his nose look a little...cancerous?
Ms. Lori,
Oh yeah, we agree with you on the impeachment thing. The current Congress won't even CENSURE Bush, for Christ's sake, let alone impeach him. And it's highly unlikely that even a Democratic majority in Congress next year would do it. However, if enough heat and pressure build up around him (and this little incident could lead to that), Bush might have no choice but to pull a Tricky Dick and resign in disgrace. Yes, we are optimists, but we've seen a lot of our other dreams come true in the past couple of months (Libby, Abramoff, DeLay...), and as GW himself would tell you, the Lord works in mysterious ways!
I still have the optimism for impeachement, but I am losing faith. Our congress is practically worthless. the Congressional dems are making me hate democrats!!! What good are they?
Especially worms like Lieberman. I hope he gets toasted in his upcoming election.
Oh yeah, Crall, don't get us started on Lieberman. He's as much a Democrat as Rick Santorum and Bill Frist are.
We would be more optimistic about impeachment except for two things: 1) our current Congress, which is worthless as you said, and 2) considering everything impeachable Bush has done already, if it hasn't happened yet, it ain't gonna happen.
